Putting Your Inner “It-Girl” into Your Style

fashion

Every girl has that desire to show their uniqueness through their look. The misconception is that it’s only acceptable to do so if you’re a Kylie Jenner it-girl. Girls assume it requires expensive taste, a platform, and a lot of effort. Not true. All it takes a little confidence, creativity, and your clothes.

It takes confidence to step outside of the standard. It’s okay to not dress exactly like every single one of your friends. It’s okay to not follow ugly trends because they are just that… trends. It takes a little creativity to find outfits that suit you and your personality. It doesn’t require a wardrobe makeover, just a new perspective.

This outfit I’m wearing is a great example of my personal style. Minimalism, a little trendy, and a touch of classic. The jeans are J. Crew boot-cut jeans that I cut, cropped, and frayed. I took something out and made it in, unique, and mine. The top is a J. Crew white button-down that I’ve had for years, but will never get sick of. I traded out my Topshop sandals and my Adidas sneakers for a touch of trend. My sunglasses are my staple for this spring and summer!

I hope this outfit inspires you to find your inner unique style!

Oops I Did it Again: Online Shopping Fail

fashion

As an avid online shopper, it’s easy for me to find great deals and immediately buy.

Not smart.

I was searching through the sale items on J. Crew, and I found these light wash jeans for like $12… amazing. Being me, I confused the 26″ inseam for the waist, and typed in my card info.

In came the package, and I ripped it open to find what looked like kid jeans. I grabbed the receipt, and to my horror discovered that I made a big mistake.

It was time to get crafty, because no returns on sale items!

I pulled out my seam ripper and did just that, ripped open the hem and frayed it a little. Bam! On trend, cropped, distressed, Denim.

I casually paired it with this Madewell muscle tank and my adidas sneaks (you can literally find them anywhere). You can find the shady details about my sunnies in previous posts.

Back in Black

Feeling like a secret agent in this look, minus the blending in to the crowd.

You might recognize the pieces of this outfit from Not Your Average ValentineBetter Than a Dress, and Winter in Chicago, but trust me… this is the best combination yet. Effortlessly chic, comfortably black, and hot enough to make me feel like a knock-out, I wish everyone could have the chance to walk down the street in this look. Head-to-toe ASOS (minus the J. Crew boots) makes it totally affordable! Shop the toppants, and boots.

Winter in Chicago

fashion, travel

Hi all! It’s been a while since I’ve published anything because I have been so busy!

I spent a week in Chicago over Thanksgiving, and it was much colder than the 70 degree weather we had in Texas that week. It was the perfect time to finally break out my winter clothes! These pictures don’t do the gorgeous city justice, but I wanted to show them anyways.

I’ve found my winter essentials on the Magnificent Mile: This adorable hat from Anthropologie is as cozy as it looks! The coat is from last season, but I found a super similar one on sale.

Okay now I need to talk about these jeans. As a tall girl, it is super hard to find denim long enough at my waist size. ASOS provided the perfect solution with almost custom length to waist sizing in their tall department! They are so soft and fit perfectly. After even 7fam couldn’t fit me, I knew I was going to have to branch out and I was so thrilled when I found out that ASOS could get me a 36 inch inseam.

These perfect suede side-zip boots are the most comfortable, practical, gorgeous boots I’ve ever found.

J. Crew outdid themselves with these black boots that tie together literally any winter look.fullsizerender-77fullsizerender-78img_6776

This next look is what I whipped out for our family Thanksgiving dinner. I absolutely love how these boots can dress up or stay casual! I adore you, J. Crew.

I’m sorry to say that this is the only photo I snapped of this outfit, and the night sky doesn’t make for the best lighting!

This top is slouchy and soft, the yummiest tee combo. It tucked perfectly into these white jeans. I threw a cropped-sleeve black blazer over it to dress it up and keep me warm, although I’m pretty sure the coat never came off.

On Fall and Fashion: When the Season Changes but the Temperature Hasn’t

fashion, photgraphy

To all of you still hanging on to summer, while you’re right that it might not be September 22nd, school has started and I’m ready for booties and denim.

Girls everywhere are ordering their (iced) PSL’s, re-organizing their closets, and sweating under layers of fall fashion in this 92 degree heat (at least they are in Texas). Others are mad at Starbucks for starting the fall drinks, laying by the pool, and refusing to accept that it’s mid September!

I’ve been digging through my clothes every day trying to figure out what exactly I’m supposed to wear when I’m sick of shorts and tanks, but I’ll be sweating in sleeves. Today was a pleasant day at 85 and my outfit was just right! (Skip to the end to see a re-cap on my three-month hiatus!)

Catching Up:

I spent my summer at Ballet West in Salt Lake City and had an amazing time! I’m back in the swing of things with my ballet training and online school, so I’ve been pretty go go go. Today on 9/11 I had the opportunity to go on a prayer walk with my church and it was a great reminder to pray for all those around us, even the strangers because they are loved! In this busy season, take time to think of the big picture, because our daily plans are minuscule compared to God’s ultimate plan!

Sincerely,
